Choosing a plant to send during a difficult time

Something understated is usually right. Green foliage rather than anything loud, and a plant that copes with lower light, because it may sit in a hallway or a corner for a while before anyone decides where it should go. Avoid anything that needs attention in a week when nobody has attention to spare.

Why a living plant

A plant is still there in a month, which is often when the messages have stopped and the house is quiet again. It keeps growing without being asked to, and it doesn't need to be dealt with. For some people that matters more than something that arrives, is admired, and is gone by the weekend.

Funeral and memorial plants

A plant sent for a funeral doesn't have to go to the service. Sending it to the house a few days afterwards is often better, when the visitors have gone and the week goes quiet. As a memorial gift it holds up over years rather than days, and it can be moved, repotted and kept without ever needing to be explained.

Condolence plants and thinking of you

A condolence gift is asked to do very little: arrive, be noticed, and not create a job. Greenery manages that. The same is true of a thinking of you plant sent with no occasion attached, for someone having a hard month rather than a bereavement. In both cases something understated carries further than something large.

When it will arrive

Order before 12pm on a weekday, or before 10am on Saturday, and we deliver the same day across the suburbs we cover. Our couriers start their run around 12:30pm and we aim to have every order delivered by 5pm. There are no Sunday deliveries. Saying something without saying much

Add a greeting card at checkout and write the message yourself. We don't write it for you, and that's deliberate: a short line in your own words carries more than a longer one that came from somewhere else. If you're sending on behalf of a few people, names on a card are enough.
