Choosing a Christmas plant

Pick for the room it's going into, not the season. A Christmas plant stays long after the decorations are boxed, so the useful question is where it'll be sitting in February. Glossy, upright foliage does well in a Brisbane living room through summer, and anything that tolerates lower light will cope with a house that gets shut up for a week in January.

Plants for someone who has everything

The hard names on the list are hard because they already own the objects. A plant isn't an object in the same way. It changes the room, it needs a small amount of involvement, and it's noticeably different a year later, which almost nothing else under the tree can claim. The window between Christmas and the new year is a good one for sending. The rush is over, people are home, and a plant landing in the first week of January gets a spot chosen properly rather than a space cleared in a hurry. It's also a sensible gift for anyone moving or starting something in the new year.

Ordering before Christmas

Order before 12pm on a weekday, or before 10am on Saturday, for same-day delivery across the suburbs we cover. Our couriers start their run around 12:30pm and aim to have every order delivered by 5pm, and we don't deliver on Sundays, so plan around that when you're working back from the date.
