Even so, pinching the growing tips keeps any syngonium compact: take the tip off any growth that's reaching and the plant branches below the cut instead. Not enough light, almost every time. Long bare gaps between the leaves mean the plant is reaching for a window, and no amount of watering fixes it. Move it somewhere brighter but out of direct sun, then pinch the tips back to where the leaves are still close together. It branches from below the cut and thickens up again within a few weeks through the warm months.
