Yes. Anthurium sits in the Araceae family and its sap carries calcium oxalate crystals, so a cat or a dog that chews a leaf can end up drooling, pawing at its mouth and off its food for a while. It stings rather than poisons, but it's reason enough to send something else to a home where the animals treat foliage as a snack.
Three swaps, all non-toxic to cats and dogs. Calathea brings patterned leaves and purple undersides, and handles a dimmer room. Peperomia obtusifolia is smaller and thick-leaved, close to a succulent in feel and very hard to kill. Fittonia plants keep the colour idea going, with veining in pink or white across a low, spreading plant. Which one suits the household is your call, so ask first if you don't know the place well.
Two to three months per spathe, and a plant in the right spot carries on producing them on and off through the year. The reason they last is that the coloured part isn't petals. It's a spathe, a modified leaf that curves behind the spadix, the narrow tail holding the true flowers, which are tiny and easy to miss. A leaf lasts the way a leaf does.
Bright indirect light is what keeps them coming. In a dark corner an anthurium stays healthy and green and simply stops producing colour.

Keep the mix evenly moist without letting it sit soggy: water when the top couple of centimetres feel dry, and empty the saucer afterwards, because wet feet are the one thing that will kill it. Humidity helps, and a Brisbane summer supplies plenty for free. Wipe the leaves now and then so they keep their gloss, since they're broad and glossy enough to show every bit of dust.
Nearly always light. An anthurium several metres from a window, or in a room lit only from the ceiling, holds its leaves and quietly stops making spathes. Move it closer to a bright window, out of the direct beam, and it starts again. The other cause is a plant that's been sitting wet or cold, which puts its energy into surviving rather than flowering.
Because that's how a spathe ages. It opens in full colour, holds for weeks, then slowly greens off as it goes over. It isn't a fault and it isn't a sign of anything wrong. Cut it out at the base once it's faded and the plant puts what it has into the next one.
